A Season of Giving
There are many ways to support MCC’s Mission Partners during this season of giving. Read below to learn more about our Thanksgiving and Christmas offerings, food and coat drives, and more!
Gifts that Give Back
Just Bakery — Holiday Cookie Kits (Pre-order by December 8)
This year we have the opportunity to support Just Bakery in a delicious new way! Look for order forms in Fellowship Hall to pre-order Christmas Cookie kits. Orders are due December 8, and kits can be picked up at MCC on December 15.
Fair Trade Sale (Sundays, November 24 - December 22)
MCC’s annual Fair Trade sale is now open in Fellowship Hall.FAIR TRADE puts people and planet first. That means you can trust that every purchase you make directly impacts the life and community of its maker in an under-resourced community. Your purchase helps to break the cycle of generational poverty and ignite social change.
All proceeds support Heart Room.
Financial Gifts
Thanksgiving Special Offering — Heart Room
This year’s Thanksgiving Offering will be supporting Heart Room. This is a highly successful program that helps families right here in Dane County achieve stable housing along with greater educational success, greater financial stability, and stable employment. You can give online through the end of November.
Road Home Holiday Sponsorships
Our goal is to raise $600 to purchase holiday gift cards for each member of two families currently receiving services from The Road Home, Dane County. Make an online contribution no later than December 1 so we can purchase and deliver gift cards to The Road Home in early December.
Christmas Special Offering — UCC Christmas Fund (Link coming soon!)
Our Special Offering for Christmas will be collected to support the UCC Pension Board Christmas Fund. By giving generously to the Christmas Fund, we will help retired clergy, church staff, and their families to pay bills, maintain health insurance, and meet emergency needs. Year after year, our gifts make a difference, easing the anxiety of constant financial worries.
Special Offering envelopes will be provided in the worship services on December 24. Online giving will be available December 1 - 29.
Donations
WayForward Resources — Holiday Baking Basket
Interested in doing something special for WayForward families? Put together a holiday baking basket!
A basket should contain flour, white sugar, brown sugar, baking soda, baking powder, salt, vanilla and vegetable oil. To personalize your basket you may also want to include some special ingredients like decorating sugars, sprinkles in a variety of colors, spices like cinnamon and nutmeg, cocoa powder, baking mixes or canned frosting. You may also want to include a greeting card or favorite recipe. There really isn’t a wrong or right way to do this, so just use your imagination.
Drop off your holiday baking baskets in the church entryway by December 18 and we will deliver them to Wayforward Resources.
WayForward Resources — Warming Tree
WayForward Resources has asked that this year’s drive focus on winter coats, boots, and kids' pajamas. New and gently used items are appreciated with all children’s sizes needed for boots, coats and pajamas. Adults can look at your closets for gently used coats that you rarely/never wear and place them on or near the warming tree too.
The donation tree will be in the church entrance from December 8-22, and donated items will be collected and delivered to the WayForward clothing closet weekly during the drive.
